Off-Page Connectors Disappear or Reappear

Off-Page Connectors are refreshed on publication. They link deliverables of the same name on the same Level.

Symptom

Off-Page Connectors, that are expected, do not appear.

Off-Page Connectors, that had been manually deleted, have reappeared after publication.

NOTE: It is unnecessary to delete Off-Page Connectors as they are updated, added or removed during publication or by Refresh Off-Page Connectors in the Map Control Console.

Cause

Causes of reappearance or unexpected appearance are:

• other deliverables which accidentally have the same name
• maps, which should have been deleted, have been moved instead, but are still visible.

Causes of disappearance are:

• the target deliverable has been renamed or deleted
• the map the target deliverable is on has been deleted
• the maps that the source and target deliverables are on are on different levels.

NOTE: You should also take into account that the Sandpit site may have maps which are still in development and so may have extra deliverables; the Prelive and Live sites may not have all the maps if they are still in development so deliverables from these maps will not be present.

Solutions

1. Ensure that the maps exist and that they are on the correct level.
2. Remove any maps from the site which are no longer required.
3. Ensure that the source and target deliverables have the correct names and change any other deliverables that have the same name (see also Off-Page Connector Does Not Appear).
4. Run the Mismatched Deliverables (All) Report.
5. Re-publish the site.
