Archive html is too big. Can I delete it?

Symptom

The archive html folder is taking up a lot of space. We don't use it, can we delete it?

Cause

The archive html is used in the Change History report (see Change History) and for ensuring that previous versions of maps are available.

The archive html consists of folders with unique names, each containing the html of a map. These folders are created on each publish of the site, one for each map, so that the complete set of maps are available with the same timestamp.

Solution

There are several possible solutions:
  1. Move the archive html onto a server which has more space. See Change Archive HTML Location.
  2. If the Change History report is not required and past versions of the maps are not required or backups of the Live html are taken by other means, then archive html can be turned off and the archive html folder can be deleted. See Configuration Settings: Publication Settings.
  3. Delete unnecessary folders for publishes with no changed maps. If that site is being published, e.g. overnight, and you know when the publish has no changed maps, the folders for that time-stamp could be deleted.
  4. Delete folders not required for the Change History report. This would, however, require you to trawl through the TriasterServer2011\ProcessLibraries\Library Name\Live\ToolsRevisionHistory.xml extracting the unique names.
